Magdalena, en de heilige vrouwen:
Waar gaat Hij heen, dien 't herte mijn
 bemint? In welke handen,
gevallen, moet Hij leed en pijn
 gedoogend en verdragend zijn,
 o schand der schanden?
 Gebonden zie 'k Hem henengaan,
 gevonnist en verwezen aan
 den galgeboom te sterven!
o Gij, die God zijt, laat Gij nu
 Uw' kinderen onterven
van 't hemelsch licht? - Wij volgen U,
want, daar Gij gaat en zal, gewis,
 bedriegen ons de duisternis.
